Wikispaces

wikilogo.jpgWiki is one of the most typical online collaboration tools. HERE is video to explain what wiki is in plain language.
You may also want to check HERE to get a deeper understanding of how wiki works.

Assignment

For this week, you are going to create a Wiki using www.wikispaces.com. You may use this assignment to set up a draft site and get a taste of how you may or may not use wikispaces for your final project.
Wikispaces has a whole lot of tutorials if you don't know how things work. Click HERE to watch.
You can also check the Help Page if you have more specific problems using it.

The followings are required for this assignment:

1. Create a new Wiki. Change the name of this wiki to something meaningful to your course.
(You can change it in Wiki info>settings>manage wiki)
2. Add the following pages
  • Home
  • Overview
  • You instructor
  • Week 1
  • Week 2
  • Week 3
  • Week 4
  • Resources

3. On the "Home" page:
  • Write an introduction to the Wiki and the purpose of the Wiki.
  • insert a picture that represents your content area to the Wiki.
4. On "Your instructor" page, do the following:
  • Write a paragraph that introduce yourself as a course instructor
  • Insert a picture of yourself underneath the text
  • Resize the picture so that the picture of you is not too small/large
5. On the "Resource" page, embed one of the Youtube videos you made for EDCT 2030 (i.e screencast, instructional movie).
6. Change your wiki permissions to "Protected" and verify your account so that everybody can view your site but only members can edit.
7. Submit the Wiki link to Blackboard. -Please test it in a new browser and make sure it is public!

For Contents for week 1-4
You don't need to pull any weekly contents for pages in your wiki site for this assignment- this assignment only aims to familiarizing yourself with the wiki environment.
